OUR BOGA YOGA BOARD STORY

BOGA Yoga has become the brand synonymous with SUP Yoga. Founded in San Clemente, BOGA was the first Paddleboard company to design and manufacture a board for specifically for taking the practice of Yoga onto the water.  With a head start on something a lot of other companies hadn’t even thought of yet, this is their story.

THE FLOATING STUDIO IS BORN

Yoga is very community-based, so BOGA created floating yoga studios,  and that really caught on. Instead of being inside, you’re free in the water surrounded by nature. Or, you can even be inside in a pool!  Because it can be done in interior locations away from the ocean, the growth of it is a lot faster than something like surfing.

With its popularity rising, the Meylers met Rachel Brathen (better known as Yoga Girl) in 2010. At the time, Brathen had been practicing yoga occasionally  windsurfing boards at home in Aruba, so when she met up with BOGA, well that’s when it all made sense and the real fun began!

THE EVOLUTION OF YOGA ON WATER

As a certified yoga instructor, co-founder Trish Meyler would practice yoga for fun on BOGA’s largest board which spawned the idea to create an actual paddleboard specific to the practice of yoga on water, before “SUP Yoga” was a “thing.”  This new type of board would include increased stability, width, and need a unique pad like a yoga mat, that is smooth with grip and water wicking.

From there, the line of BOGA Yoga boards has expanded to suit every yogi’s needs. The inflatable for the traveling yoga lover, the beautiful lightweight bamboo version, soft EVA wrapped, and of course, the famous BOGA Blue.

TO THE FUTURE

“You can have fun on a windsurfing board, but you can’t really have a great yoga flow, says Trish. After working with Yoga Girl, BOGA partnered up with the Wanderlust Yoga Festivals and set up floating studios with them. Having created a network of floating studios, it has allowed them all to work with each other, visit each other, and feed off each other.
SUP Yoga is an industry the company stands behind wholeheartedly.

The company’s soul is really about trying to get to the water as much as possible. We do it because we love it. It’s been a wild ride, and it’s the fastest growing watersport for a reason. The accessibility of the sport is huge. It’s a very easy entry, and it doesn’t matter if you’re 4 or 74.
